A great journalist from ABC NEWS AUSTRALIA, Duncan Graham, was attending an event in University of Trunojoyo Madura held by Harian Surya Surabaya in coorporation with English Study Program of University of Trunojoyo Madura and PT. Telkom Indonesia. It was the publishment of Harian Surya's Netizen Journalist's Antology book entitled "CIPO". Duncan came here with his wife who is actually an Indonesian, exactly from Makassar as the endorser of the book's production.
This was not his first time coming to Madura Island. Before, Mr and Mrs. Graham have ever visited some Historical Tourism Places in Madura. The first place they visited was the oldest kings of Madura's cemetery whose age is about more than 300 years. It was called as "Asta Tinggi" (means a high cemetery) because the location was on the hill in Sumenep Regency.
In this good ocassion, he shared many things about what he thought about Madurese peole and cultures. He considered that Madura was a good island because it had many cultures and historical places. He said that actually, his first reason coming to Indonesia was because he loved cultures and Indonesia is a country with the great numbers of it. So, he wanted to explore more about it and Madura was one of a part of this country which cultures was still pure until nowadays. He loved this place because here, he felt like he was not being exploited. He found no English Language used to tell about the Instructions and Informations to the travelers who visit the tourism places. Beside that, the people here were much different from another places who directly become too excited to take picture with Bule when they met him. Here, the people were friendly and met him normally like he was same as them. Those were the reasons why did he like to come to this island.
Beside sharing many things about what he tought about Madura In this event which held on November, 26th 2017, Mr. Duncan Graham also gave some suggestions to the team of OCIH JOURNALISM (Our Creativity is Here Journalism) about how to be a great journalist and creating good valued news. He told us that as a journalist, we have to be relevant in telling your news and look for something that can be a key of blowing the readers' mind when they read the news. Find a litle thing which is actually important to be told, but not many people Aware it. "So, good luck", said him at the end of the interview.
